Nothing comes to my mind why it wouldn't work - Might want to wait until a more well-versed member chimes in though.

They got different P/N's, I'd be leary about it. Splines or length might not be the same. Or it could be something dumb. When in doubt, use what you know fits.

Re: EX axles in LX tranny.. does it work?

thanks guys. i just swapped in my new motor, lx everything with ex head. i dropped everything in and the engine runs smooth. i start the car, go about 100 feet and the car stops with a click and a jerk. i bleed the clutch and now i got full clutch pressure and the car still doesnt go. the axles arent all the way in and i tried to bang them in the tranny but they arent going in. it has like an inch between the big end of the axle and the tranny. prior to me driving the car the wheels would turn in the air when i put it in gear. anyone know what the problem is?!

is there a certain technique to putting axles in? i tried to nudge them in, bang them in and they dont wanna go in. :wtf:

Re: EX axles in LX tranny.. does it work?

It could be that the splines differ. If thats the case, then you're just gonna have to find some axles that work with the tranny. Its not hard to put in axles... rotate them until the splines align then push them in until the C-rings lock.

Re: EX axles in LX tranny.. does it work?

my old motor was an ex manual tranny and now i got a lx manual tranny. so yeah im sure i ex manual axles.... thanks boiler i think your right, the axles arent compatible.. me and my tried banging the axle in with quite a bit of force and it never went past that 1 inch gap. sigh i guess i will be down for like another week or two. my passenger side axle is stuck in the hub as well. anyone know how to get around that? i already used a sledge hammer and an air hammer and the fvckin thing doesnt budge. great this is gonna be a bitch. lol

Re: EX axles in LX tranny.. does it work?

You mean help getting that passenger side axle out? That sounds like it is going to be a bitch if you jammed it in there so hard. I'd just start pulling and banging on the side of it and things like that.
