VTEC timing belt

Is the VTEC engine an interference engine? if the timing belt breaks, does it bend valves in the engine? This is in a 95 Civic....THANKS!

if the piston hits the valves, they only bend if you get lucky. most of the time it busts them all to hell and beats the crap out of the piston. ive only seen 1 timing belt break and not hurt the motor.
