Drl... Again!!

OKay, this MUST be the 745724986353405th thread about DRLs on this site. I've done the search and every single thread just suddenly stopped or ended with "DRLs are dumb" or "Just turn on your headlights" or something like that. I've noticed that almost all of Canadian Civic drivers want them off and there are a few US Civic drivers that want them on. I want them on. I understand that there are two fuse slots for them on our US cars (I've gotta 04 LX) with fuses in them. I think we're simply missing some relays/modules/resistors. I just have no clue where they would go. There MUST be some way to just ghetto rig it to where the high beams come on at like 60% automatically and just stay on. I, for one, would like it. Thanks for the help.

Re: Drl... Again!!

actually that is what it is...using the high beam pulsing 50% of the time....50% duty cycle....12V on 12V off...since i am not familiar with DRL system we dont have them

pulsing period would be key here...right amount of on and off time...there are alot of circuits that can make this work...i would have to search as well...but it is doable...

Re: Drl... Again!!

maybe they sell something for that too. you could even buy the module honda uses on the 8thgens. basically you need the two hi beams running in SERIES so that each bulb is then only getting 6v instead of 12. right now they are wired in parallel so each bulb gets 12v. so its gonna require some creative wiring or a control box. not really worth it for something that will be inferior anyway. some study actually showed white light drl increased accidents because alot of people didnt notice them at all due to blending in with the ambient light on a cloudy day. the only thing theyre good for is the idiots that cant remember to turn their light on when it gets dark outside. amber is the way to go for drl.

^^^ touche to the study and it being inferior. But I guess I just wanted to have them as the high beams because I wanted them to be yellow like my fogs. I think that would be neat and different. Maybe I'll ask the 8th-gen-ers. heh

Re: Drl... Again!!

Looks good! How'd you do it? Do the 01-03s use 9006/9005 bulbs too? Or are they double filament high/lo bulbs? I'm sure that doesn't matter in rigging up the wiring, but yeah... how'd u do it?
