A new coil every 5 months?

90 civic hatchback with 200,000+ miles

I'm on my third coil after replacing two at roughly five months apart. One was a quality coil from my lifelong mechanic.

Thought about replacing the coil myself every 4 months unless I can get to the bottom of this.

(still gets up to 45 mpg highway)

Any help?

Re: A new coil every 5 months?

Hello all. I finally figured out what the problem was and why I was burning through so many ignition coils. I replaced the grounding strap about six months ago and haven't had any more problems. Had to get it from the dealer but still an easy and cheap fix for what was a costly problem.

I hate it when I over look the common sense things first.

Glad you fixed it and thanx for updating the thread.
