OEM Fog Switch Pin out
I need the diagram for the OEM HONDA fog switch. I am going to wire it up but I need to know the correct pin out for it. So if someone anyone can post up a diagram with pics it would be greatly appreciated. Now just to clarify, I do not need fog light install instructions or any of that. All I need is the pin-out for the OEM switch. There are 5 pins two copper and 3 silver in color. I have also included a pic.
Yes, phOng already posted a switch diagram in this post " https://www.civicforums.com/forums/7...switch+diagram " but it is no longer working. That is why I am starting a new thread.

This PDF may be of help, Can you see any #s near the pins ??
Use a meter and if you have a DC power supply around 12 volts (old plug-in chargers, DC 9-12v) it should be easy to determine.
One bulb is illumination, the other bulb is the on indicator and a switch.

Gearbox! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!! It is the 02 civic sedan ex (ES2).
No, I do not see any numbers or markins of any kind. Only the fact that two of the pins are copper the other three are silver in color. That is all. The pic I posted is actually pretty good, it showes all their is to show.

^^^^THanks, anyway. Anyone else have any idea?
Thanks to TemjinX2 . He is the only one sofar that has been able to help.
To be fair CraigW posted a diagram also, but not exactly what I need I had already found the exact same diagram in another thread. But thanks to him also, He tried.
I am sure a lot of you did this. SO what is the deal, people just don't want to help out a fellow 7thgen or what?

OK USING TemjinX2 'S DIAGRAM AND A SMALL 12 BATTERY AND A LED LIGHT BAR. I FIGURED IT OUT.
I WILL NAME THE PINS FOR CONVERSATIONS SAKE, THIS MAY OR MAY NOT BE THE CORRECT NAME ASSIGNED BY HONDA.
USING MY PIC FOR A REFERENCE.
WHERE THERE IS ONE PIN ABOVE THE REST WE WILL CALL THIS THE LEFT SIDE.
SO THE THE LEFT TOP PIN IS PIN 1
THE LEFT LOWER (THIS IS ALSO A COPPER PIN) IS PIN 2
THE NEXT PIN ON THE RIGHT OF PIN 2 WILL BE PIN 3
THE PIN TO THE RIGHT OF 3 (THIS PIN IS COPPER IN COLOR LIKE PIN 2)WILL BE PIN 4
AND THE LAST PIN WILL BE 5
PIN 1 & 2 GO TO GROUND
PIN 3 IS THE SWITCHED 12 V (THIS IS THE WIRE THAT FEEDS YOUR LIGHTS.)
PIN 4 SHOULD GO TO THE 12V FOR THE LIGHT SWITCH. WHEN THIS IS FED +12V THE LIGHT ON THE FRONT OF THE SWITCH WILL COME ON. (THIS IS FOR ILUMINATION ONLY)
PIN 5 IS THE FEED FOR THE FOGS. THIS IS THE 12V THAT WILL BE FEEDING THE FOGS.
JUST AN ADDED NOTE:
THE TWO PINS THAT ARE COPPER ARE USED FOR ILLUMINATION OF THE SWITCH ONLY. SO IF YOU HOOK PIN 2 TO THE CHASI GROUND AND PIN 4 TO THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON THE STEERING COLUMN (SO THAT PIN 4 IS FED +12V WHEN THE PARKING LIGHTS ARE ON), THIS WILL ILLUMINATE THE SWITCH WHEN THE PARKING LIGHTS ARE ACTIVATED.
THE SILVER COLORED PINS ARE FOR THE ACTUAL POWERING OF THE ACCESORY, THAT IS BEING POWERED BY THE SWITCH.

Well here it is, all finished. I had to cut the plastic off of the harness, so that I could solder the wires properly. I also used a female spade for the pins 4 and 5.
1. Cut the plastic off with a hack saw blade.
2. I then bent pin 1 and 2 so that the tips are touching. I then soldered a black wire between them.
3. I then soldered pin 3 to a purple wire. (this is the wire for the fog relay)
4. I then crimped a red wire on to a male spade connector it fits perfectly over pin 4 and 5.
5. After I finished all the soldering. I tested the switch to make sure it worked.
6. I then used some heat-shrink on the wires to help clean it up and prevent any future problems. I am happy and much thanks to TemjinX2 for the initial pic. It helped a lot..

good info, The 04 switch i have you dont need to power the pin 4 and 5. You can use one or the other. power to pin 4 will cause the switch to be one all the time but still power the switch. Pin 5 will illuminate the switch only when its in the pushed position and still power the switch.
You might want to switch to the 04's coupe switch if you do this again. it can save you a step.
Thats a clean job with the solder. i just did it the lazy way and used spade connectors for pin 1, pin 3, and pin 5.
I'm probably going to buy another one of these switches to power my jdm fogs in my itr head lights. I'm already using it to power my car computer.

ok i'm having trouble with my fog lights. I had someone install them and i thought is was odd that when the car was turned off that the fog light switch stays on i asked if that will drain my battery and he said no. So after 3 weeks of driving it it turns out that it does drain my battery. so what i did was disconnect the one wire that was going straight to battery to from the fog light switch so it wouldn't drain it but now my question is where can i hook that wire up so that it won't drain my battery?

Is there a relay wired in? If so, that should have been wired to the batery with a fuse and the switch should have been wired to the parking lights. If not then hook up the wire you took off to the plug in the fuse block that is hot only when the parking lights are on. I have the OEM Honda wire for this if you are intersted in it.
Re: OEM Fog Switch Pin out
Hey guys Im in need of some help, i bought oem honda foglights for my 04 ex coupe, and purchased the switch separately for the coupe with blue backing. Anyways everything went together perfect but when I went to connect my switch the connectors are totally different. My fog harness has a 5 pin connector all in a row and the switch is 5 pins 4 on the bottom one on top. So much for plug and play so my fog harness for the switch has 5 pins. 1st pin is red/yellow (power in?), 2nd pin red/blue(from relay??), 3rd pin 2 wires red/black(ground?), 4th pin 2 wires solid red(power out??), 5th pin 2 wires red/white(illumination??) I am going to connect both by extending wires from each connector using male/female connectors. So for wiring the switch please help me with which wires go to what pin on the switch using the switch pinout, A reply would be greatly appreciated i have no clue why this wont plug and play being genuine honda other than maybe 2 and 4 door foglight kits are somehow different which I was never asked when I purchased. Either way Im pissed and I just want these hooked up so please help me out if you can Thanks.

Re: OEM Fog Switch Pin out
The swithc sound like the one I used for this DIY. Just play with the harness and a Volt meter you should be able to figure it out. Sorry but that is all I can do from here with the info given.
