DIY Aluminum Shifter Bushings and Revo Short Shifter Install - PICS!!
Are you talking about these bolts?

They should come out pretty easily. Have you taken off the shifter cables? They may be pulling the shifter a bit to make it tougher to get them out. I think they are a bit long so keep working at them.

yes those are them, as i said ive gotten 2 to become "loose" but they are not comming out. Its as if ive broken the bolts in half or something. I heard a snapping sound too, im sure ive broken both of them.
ive unscrewed them about 1/2 an inch then heard a snap, now it falls back all the way down and back up (to the height i unscrewed it to)

The only thing that would make sense is if there is a nut welded to the underside of the frame that the bolt screws into. If somehow the bolt got stuck in the nut and you torqued it, then the nut could have broken from the frame. This would explain why you can raise it the length you unscrewed it.
I don't know if it is possible to get to the underside of the shifter from under the car. You could, with a buddy, hold the nut and take out the bolt and replace in a similar manner. The threads of the bolt must be damaged so I would replace the bolts with new ones (hardware store has bolts that would work, and get new nuts too). But if you can't get to it from under the car, I'm at a loss.

OK. You can get to them from underneath the car. Just have someone hold them with a Vise Grip or pair of pliers while you finish removing them. When you reinstall the bolts, use actual hex nuts not the square jobbies Honda put on there. Unfortunately, removing and re-installing your shifter is now a two man job, but at least nothing is permanently broken. Anyway, here are the pics. Sorry if they are blurry, but it was dark under my car.
Shot of four bolts.

Closeups of a bolt.

Nice pics speedfoos. That should be a relatively easy fix. If I were you JSpec, I'd also squirt a little silicone or some sealant around the nut/bolt to keep water from going up into the underside of your shifter, or use a rubber washer.

A flathead screwdriver between the clip and assembly to get that out. And then I just used brute force and ignorance (almost better than a hammer) to remove the cable from the assembly. Its tight, but it'll come out.

Finally i have time to install my Short shifter today.
However, i ran into problem, i try to unbolt the bolts that hold the shifter on the floor (shown in the pic). For some reasons, those bolts only went up half way, then stucked. so i tried harder, and i slapped one of the bolt. What should i do now? Is there any ways to take the broken half screw out?

6 posts up is a shot of the underside of the where those bolts come through. You have three options here really.
If you can get a pair of vice grips on the remaining bolt (from either the top or the bottom) and take it the rest of the way out like that. Then just use a new bolt.
If you can't do that you can use bolt extractor to get them out.
Or you can knock the tac-welded nuts off the underside with a hammer and cold chisel and just get someone to help you install new nuts and bolts. This will take the nut and bolt out of the equation. One person will have to be in the car and the other underneath with a wrench when you tighten the new ones down. Unless you have really long, elastic arms.

Just did this same install, except I bought Grey's kit as well. Very easy install, took me a little over an hour. The only difficult part was getting the driver's side cable out (as mentioned above). No problems with the bolts (although mine were 12mm).
As for the results I am tremendously pleased. The **** now sits lower, and is visibly noticable if you are paying attentions, but a quick glance looks same as stock. The throw is definately reducted (obviously), but the best change is the feel. It is no longer loose feeling. It takes somewhat more effort to move the lever (in a good way), and there is never a balk between gears. It goes straight in every time. Stock it would sometimes get caught on the way into the next gear creating an overly notchy feeling.
Again, I am very pleased with the results, and the ease of install. Thanks to speedfoos for the DIY and Grey for his upgrade kit.

Yeah, Grey's kit is definitely a must on this one. I installed it a couple months after the DIY. Glad it helped you, have some rep!

This was one of my first mods on my car. I can say for sure that every thing you do in this makes a difference. At first I put it just the SS, after a month I ordered Grey's kit, and then a couple of months later I ordered the aluminum bushings. Each time I could feel the difference each step made. I love it, and still one of my favorite mods.

Are you serious? Not in my head, I could feel the difference. The aluminum bushing gave the whole shifter a solid feel, Grey's kit gives the shifts a solid feel. Sorry if it hurts your feelings that I could feel the difference.

Sleepy, if you'd go to the gym, and get some bigger arms so you'd shift like a man, then you would notice the difference. Go get some spinach and build those 9" pythons you're rocking and then we can talk.

I went to ACE Hardware and bought aluminum collars for 2.53 each. Worked perfectly. I just put it in last night. One of my favorite upgrades so far.

update: took my car to a mechanic to change timming belt. So i asked him to take a look the slapped-bolt from underleaf the car. It turns out all the bolts are rusted to a point that there are no threads on the bolts. It looks like they are welded on the nuts.(STUPID canadain winter
) .I had made a appointment with him to take those bolts off. other than that, it is a easy DIY.

awesome stuff.....my revo just came in the mail today...i am going to put it in tonight....and i will be using this diy.....good looks foos
Re: DIY Aluminum Shifter Bushings and Revo Short Shifter Install - PICS!!
very good diy! i may use this soon. this may be totally retarded, but could you just chop the stock shifter down an inch and rethread it to get a "shorter shifter"? i know you wouldnt reap all the benifits of quicker shift times but would it still work properly? this is only a theory of course...

Sure you could. Been thinking about doing that with my old stocker. You don't have the different cable height adjustment but the shifter would be shorter.
