D17 & high compression
Lets hear some comments about the D17 with high compression. The new R18engines have 10.5:1 which is kinda high but I guess that's how honda achieved the 140hp. Who has high compression on their D17 and how do you like it. I have a set of CP 11:1 pistons for sale and would like to get some reviews about the power gain of running high compression on the D17's. Of course we know this would only be possible with tuning....

yep sold it out. As a matter of fact Andyman bought the cam just the otherday. But I have not seen anybody with all motor setups. so just wanted to see what others had to say about all motor D17.

PCS-XFC might be another fuel management option. They don't have ignition timing as of yet but it does add fuel for the turbo guys to prevent detonation. It's def got hella more features then a VAFC-2. My buddy just bought one for his ES1. He doesn't have a turbo kit yet but I can let you know how the car drives with it with a stock setup.

d17 + higher compression = blown headgasket. i ran 200psi (stock is 135) for a year tho before it gave up. motor cant handle all the extra few hp.

Gearbox do you think that if you adjusted your ignition timing though the head could have lasted because depending on when the cylinder charges couldn't you potentially lower the pressure by changing the timing of the valves (I'm guessing advancing to minimize the "bang"). I'm no expert this is simply a guess.

ignition timing is automatically adjusted by ecu. cam timing i did get tuned and well it prolly made things worse. it was dyno at -1.5 degree at one point i was making 104whp and the car did feel faster than stock, but most likely all of that was from hi compression. also ran 89 octane. the coolant passage are just too thin so the head just couldnt hold itself together. if anyone gets headwork, i would suggest not shaving the head at all.
gearbox i had headwork done and i did not shave it at all. My dads friend owns a perforance shop and he is goign to tune it and he said the exact samething do not shave the head but shave the top of the block.
