heavy rims?

I searched the archives, but couldn't find anything on this topic, sorry if it seems ignorant...

I was wondering how much stock rims (or hubs, I should say) weigh. Just trying to get an idea so I don't get too-heavy 17" rims. I've seen a lot of people on the board with Konig Verdicts. Have they slowed down anyone's acceleration? Or do the handling benefits outweigh the slow-down in acceleration?

Thanks for all help!

Stock wheels (EX - 15") with Firestones and hubcap weigh in at 40 lbs. My Konig Monsoons with 205/55-16's weigh in at 42 lbs. I can't tell any noticeable difference in acceleration, but there is a big freaking difference in handling !!!!

Whoa, I wouldn't have guessed that the stock EX wheel/tire setup weighed that much. I guess that means I got more margin in rim choices

And, just curious, what made you go with 16s instead of 17s?

16s are nice if you don't want to worry about potholes as much. Plus they're usually lighter and cheaper

I had actually planned on buying 18's, but the roads here in Maryland are so bad that I've decided to go with 17's instead. I figure I'd rather settle for a smaller rim than pay more for a larger one AND kick out dough to get it fixed if I screw it up. I was going to go for a lighter racing rim, but I don't do much racing now that I'm MARRIED . I figure the 17's will be both showy and functional enough for me.
