DX --> EX header/ exhaust conversion please help!
DX --> EX header/ exhaust conversion please help!
First of all, I apologize if this topic has been beat to death. I've had a long hiatus from the forums, and I couldn't really find what I was looking for.
I have a 2001 Civic DX auto. (The slowest car, ever). I want to get rid of my ricey custom cat-back and just convert the whole thing into an ex setup, for example
DC Sports EX header
Random Tech High Flow Cat
Greddy EVO
The brands don't matter but what I want to do is an aftermarket EX header --> high flow cat --> EX catback
Now would this work? If so, which header would work? The guy at the shop I go to said that the DC Sports 4-2-1 header is the only "full length" header that goes all the way to the cat, and it won't fit automatics. Also, assuming this setup did work, would it trip the Check Engine light? Would I have to get an O2 sim? Is there any possible way I could do this using mostly CARB legal parts (not a huge issue, but it would be nice.) I want to get this work done soon, please help!

you need an EX header and exhust. and then just extend your o2 wires. your cat will be placed under the car instead of under the hood, like it is now since it is connected to the exhaust manifold on the DX. I made a DIY kind of thread like over a year ago on this topic.
it wont throw a cel. i have those exact parts on my car. dc 4-1 header random tech cat pipe and evo2 exhaust all for an ex. i have an lx. i had to extend the o2 wires 12" for front and about 22-24" for the rear. make sure you dont mix up the white wires when extending then. or you can buy the o2 extension wires directly from www.casperselectronics.com
i will say though that the gains arent what you would expect. i mean they are noticable but your going to spend almost $1k to do this. you might as well put that towards a swap or turbo with your current set up. car sounds mean but i just wish it had the power to back up the sound. i mean you may put down 100whp after all is said and done. i wont say dont do it because i did but now i dont think it was worth the money

its simple but a dc header random tech cat pipe and ex aftermarket cat back exhaust. unplug both o2's take them out extend the front wire about 18" and the rear about 24". make sure not to mix up the white wires. then bolt the exhaust back up with the o2's installed and your done.
