Trouble changing air filter

I have 2001 Civic LX. I'm trying to change the air filter. I think I over torqued it last time I did it. So this time, when I was trying to unbolt the bolt, the plastic around it cracked. So now the bolt just spins in place without loosening. Is there any way to get the air filter box open without cutting the bolt out?

nope its ruined. they should barely be hand tight. you could possibly fix it using epoxy or some sealant but its more trouble than just getting a new one. same happened to me, i just broke the bolts out and bought a new one.

cost

It's my parents car, I don't think they want an intake on the car. Do you know the difference in cost between new air box and the cheapest intake (I'm assuming short ram would be the cheapest)? If it's not that much difference then, I'll probably convince them to get intake. Also, is there aftermarket air box, I can't find any.

Any one has any comments on those cheap eBay intake systems?

I have a few busted bolts myself. I basically just loosen the other screws and wiggle the lid until it comes off. Been like this for 9 months now, and things appear to be fine.

FIPK are definitely not cheap, but they are the best intake for our cars hands-down. You can probably find an intake on ebay for $50 or less if you're looking for the cheap route.
