tach problem

have an 05 vp and i swapped in an 01-02 ex cluster

my tachometer doesnt flow smoothly and moves in very choppy spurts

wondering if anyone knows what the problem is???

my buddy has a aftermarket tach and the needle goes crazy while at idle and goes up really like, not smooth when he is running, he said it might be a bad ground but i dont know.

where did you get the cluster from? I've known 5 people who successfully did that swap and everything worked fine. there is only one tach wire, so either it works or it doesn't. Since yours is doing something, i'm gonna say its a bad cluster.
