I mean, can it get any better than that? plus running off of a cigarette lighter.... what are your guy's opinions?

That thing's been out for years. That was out before I ever got my permit. I've never known anybody who's boughten one though. In theory, it would be awesome. I don't know if it's accurate though.

Or so the people who make it say that...I'd rather see someone go and get dyno'd and then put this on to see what the difference is.

I understand how it can do 1/4 mile times, G metering, and other force and time related tasks, but I wonder how it can do RPM monitoring and hp/tqu monitoring. I am assuming you will have to enter the car's weight and redline into the device. From there it can learn how much power you are roughly making, how high the rpm is, etc

there is electrical distortion and patterns in the electrical system that do change with RPM but I cannot see how it can measure based only on that.
not going to worry about it right now. Ill figure it out another time.

I dyno will provide numbers perfect to tune with. The GTECH will tell you about how much of that is actually propelling the car forward (not including horspower that is used against wind resistance)

GTECH is probably more of a real-world test. But you know, if you dyno at 200 multiple times and then get this and it tells you 170, either you've got a refrigerator for a rear wing or something's not accurate

no its just telling you that you are losing 30 horsepower to wind resistance and you have 170 horsepower effectively.
i doubt it because how accurate could you be..? there are so many variables in direction and speed..
I agree that this a real world test, im hopnig it works for auto's because i cant wait to get my hands on it.

reading the manual is a hard thing to do, not to mention going to their forum and reading there to learn all about it.

They're inaccurate period exclamation point exclamation point
A buddy of mine with a Cobra bought one and it rated his car at 345hp and 360lb/tq. He was pissed... next day he took his car to a Real Dyno and pulled 490hp and 540lb/tq.
The day after that his GTECH was forsale on eBay.
People bullshit about how well the GTECH Pro works but I've seen these in use and they are not the greatest.

On thing you have to remember is that GTECH's accuracy relies on how accurate all of the parameters are entered into the unit. It asks for a series of specs prior to just plugging in and getting figures.

im sure for the most part its completely worthless, but I knew a guy who had a cheap g-tech from ebay... I think he said it was around $30.. he said it's a neat toy.
which is probably the best way to describe it... neat TOY.
which isnt terrible for making estimations
