Does anyone know how to remove the shift **** on a 2006 Civic Sedan Manual?

there are two screws in the front of it (the side facing the dash) just undo those and it slides right off....im gonna get going on that automatic to manual shift boot and **** DIY soon

But how do you even remove the manual shift ****?
On many cars you can just unscrew, or you push down on the boot part and twist or something - but i'm lost :S

See, thats what I thought - but my boot (and the metal collar between the boot and ****) don't slide down.... or maybe i wasn't forcing it enough.

its not metal, it's a cheap plastic ring. and yeah, you squeeze that on the sides and pull down. then you unscrew the shiftknob.
