Serious Question

Alright...I need to know if there are any differences what-so-ever in an A1 block and an A2 block (i.e. plugs, bolt holes, anything, etc.) I am currently sick and can't get out of bed for a few days to check it out myself; so I am hoping somebody will be able to help.

Thanks,
Aaron

anybody?

well, the A2 block has to have different pistons....... but I think the difference is in the head where the cam profile is pretty different.

The bore, stroke, and pistons are the same on both blocks. Rep for tryin' though. At least somebody tried.

Cool guys thanks for your help so far, but it's still not what i'm looking for. Let me clear it up. I'm still stuck in freakin' bed so I still am unable to look for myself. My car came with an A2 block so everything I have is for an A2 block. I have an A1 block that I have stripped down and I am about to have it sleeved. While I've been stuck in bed I've been reading through the Helms Manual and ran across a posssible problem. According to it there is a difference in the stiffener brackets from the A1 to the A2. I need to know if anybody knows if the brackets from the A2 work with the A1. Also, if there are any other differences (i.e. the holes for sensors (has/doesn't have)). Sorry for my rambling and being a pain, but this is quite important.

block castings are identical with the exception of the piston which provides the higher compression

latter half of the info being incorrect.. please elaborate..

d17a1= lower comrpession
d17a2= higher compression

whats incorrect?

wel. in your case let me elaborate even more...

d17a1 = 9.5-1 115hp @ 6100rpm 110tq @ 4300
d17a2 = 9.9-1 127hp @ 6300rpm 114tq @ 4800

displacement on both motors is 1668cc

bore and stroke on both engines are 75 x 94.4

and the obvious the a2 has VTEC....

Well after further researching of part #s it turns out there is a difference in the pistons and xproductions is da man. Learn something new everyday.
