guys, meet your 03+ gauge cluster
Well I finally took this thing apart and already there are many problems. the needles are VERY hard to pull off, and actually the temp/fuel needles pulled completely out (including the metal stick which wont go back in). I have a bad feeling they might not go back in later. Also, it looks like the design has center leds and uses a ring guide to spead the light outwards from the middle. There is also a white diffuser layer to even out the light more. Bottom line, this seems to be un-moddable because of the size and position of the leds. however, I am willing to give it a shot. Its gonna require ALOT of fabbing and drilling to make room for blue leds. In addition, it looks like there are separate red leds under each needle that will need to be changed. Well here is the mess for you so far...

i also got myself an 03 coupe gauge, the one with red linings... to be installed on an 01-02 sedan. is that what you have installed? i haven't seen the gauge light up yet.. just want to see how it looks when working.

dont forget unplug the battery first or you'll have a mess of blown fuses. oh also the cluster has a double dimmer so you can have it full bright during the day and one notch dimmer when you turn the parking lights on.

the faces are transparent for the numbers and is lit with white leds. the needles are lit with red leds. the rings are actually painted red and can't be changed (which is why i got the sedan cluster that has blue ring). I'm either gonna replace the stock leds (doubtful) and use the diffuser ring, or just bend the leds to the side, or just drill right into the plastic if there's room. i need to check clearances first.

hehe ya. but its easier for me to put new ones in, and i dont have any micro sized ones. actually i've already started and its better because my leds are directly under the numbers which means it will be way brighter than before. The bad part is i'm prolly gonna end up breaking off all the lil leds on the board. altho i'm gonna try and take em off first. i need to look for that stuff that sucks the solder out.
