Exclamation I need some help please.

I recently bought a 4-1 DC Sports header for my 2002 EX 2dr and I need to know what is the easiest way to loosen the bolts on the flange holding the header to the down pipe? I have had no luck in finding what I'm looking for on the site.

Thanks

pb blaster if they are rusted will help them come loose. Just spray on and wait...wd40 will help too...other than that go with what TransformedBG said!

I tried that, and the bolts are too heat treated/rusty. WD40 was also ineffective, I waited for about an hour, to let the WD40 soak in, but the socket just slipped off.

Takes some effort *heat cause's thing to expand* use a 6 pnt socket a breaker bar... Make sure you are using the right size.

I though about that, there is a CARx© just down the hill from where I live and just have them torch it off. If I do that, I would be worried that they might ruin the flange on the down pipe with the torch.

get a better wrench, a bigger one with more torque. MAke sure it is long and wide and pretty heavy, dont use small wrenches. It's got to be a quality wrench. I tried to do it with a small wrench that was less than a foot long, the longer the wrench the more torque, if you dont have one, borrow one from a friend or neighbor.

The problem that I run into is that there isn’t enough room for me to move the wrench between the engine and the back face of the radiator. I don’t want to pull with so much force that the wrench slips off the bolt/nut and the wrench gets pulled into the fins of the radiator and run the risk of damaging the radiator.

I had to buy extensions to reach down there I remember now, and i needed help because the way the bolts work, they rotate if nobody is holding the nut underneath on the opposite side of the bolts. Take your time and make sure to do it correctly, this is a difficult process so if you cant do it first time around, try and try again it will work, plus get the right tools, use the right tools. Having the right tools makes everything so much easier. Good luck

use a 1/2 inch drive 6 point socket with a 1/2 drive drive flex thandle (breaker bar). if that doesnt do it, use a hammer to hit the flex t handle that should take care of it...remember righty tighty lefty loosey
