newb with the vafc2 needs help
hey guys. just finished installing my vafc2 and but when i was about done, i noticed that the diagram had nowhere to connect the orange wire (VTC cam signal). do i just leave it unconnected? here are the pics of the diagrams. also... how many sensors do we have on ours cars? in the menu where it asks how many sensors you have In and Out, what did everyone put?

i would look for the diy. it is very carefully explained how to do the initial setup (its alot more than in/out numbers). and yes cam sensor is not used.

man the site search really sucks. finally found it and the thread was archived or some crazy crap. here
INITIAL SETUP PROCEDURE--Very Important!!
Just after the install is done, you need to set certain functions in order for the vafcII to work with your car. As far as I know, these will work for a D17 1.7L SOHC VTEC engine on 2001-2004 civic EX.
If you started the car without performing this setup, you will need to reset the ecu and start over.
After the install, turn the car to the ON position but do not crank the engine. The vafcII display should now be active.
1) Sensor number IN 06 OUT 06
2) Number of cylinders = 4
3) Throttle position = arrow pointing north-east
4) Vtec number = 3
5) hold down accelerator for 10 secs, then release for 10 secs
Turn off the car and remove the key to save settings. It is now safe to start the car for the first time. There should be no check engine light at all.
DO NOT ever adjust any vafcII settings when the engine is running!! All changes including vtec engagement and fuel tuning must be made when the car is on, but engine is off, as described above.
It is strongly recommended that a dyno be used to measure and adjust the air/fuel ratio for your vehicle. The ideal ratio is 14.7:1 which is best for combustion and emissions.
As a general rule, our cars tend to run lean in the lower rpms and rich in the upper rpms, although this is not always true.

vtm is the vtec solenoid control wire. without it connected, your engine light will come on. this is a mistake on apex's part in forgetting to include it on the diagram. just look at the diagram posted here. the tdc on 7thgen civic does not need to be connected, but it wont hurt anything.

I'm logging in to ask you abt this...since yesterday I was trying to tune the VAFC2. However everytime I adjust the vtec L->H rpm...the engine lights keep coming on....reseting the batt and it goes off.....
Will connecting the VTM line stop this?..if it does...I'm going to kill Apexi...cos it scared the **** out of me when it happen the 1st time.
Stock VTEC settings. Throttle 15% Nar, 45% Wide.
Correction settings are -4 for Nar Throttle LVT(1000 - 2400 RPM)
+4 to +6 for Wide HVT (3000 to 6400 RPM)
However at low revs I can hear a slight cling sound from the engine....Do you think I'm setting it to lean at -4.
I'm going to dyno it..however will put it off until I bored the throttle body.

yes you MUST connect the vtm wire as shown above. the apex diagram is WRONG. i would not adjust any fuel setting without a dyno. I also would leave the vtec engagement to stock all stars ****. there are too many variables that go into the ecu before it feels it is safe to activate vtec. you could cause serious engine damage if you set it to engage when its not supposed to.
You r right. I connected the VTM signal line. And start adjusting the vtec engagement setting to L->H 3800 H->L 3300. The system keeps engaging vtec. I think other parameters are acting on it as well.
So now its back to stock settings ****
