I took apart my head unit today to do the DIY light change on the dash controls....ok I did that ok but I have a stock head unit and CD player....Does anyone know if the lights that light up the stock head unit are LEDs or if I can change them with a gel sheet? Has anyone done it before? Any help would be greatly apreciated, thank you very much.

ive very intrested in this too......i replaced my aftermarket cd player with the stock one for now and the color doesnt match my blue lights now

You could try to sell the one that you have and buy a stock cd player from a sedan. It has white lights... just a thought...

im only keeping the stock one for a bit till i get my new one....but id still like to put some blue lights in. The one in now has an almost olive green color......doesnt match the blue....

I know what everyone means about matching...all my interior lights are blue except for behind the radio....I really don't want to go get a new head unit...I think the stock one mathces the car really well...I like it. I guess if anyone has figured out how to chnage the color yet...I'd really like to know how

The display on the hu is probably lit by some led's very similar to those found on cell phones.
Here is a link to a page where you can buy them. And here is a link to a page that gives directions on how to swap them out. I'm sure that you can interpret the directions and apply them to the stock head unit. And yes, I used to be a cell phone geek... [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/IMG]
