Open Deck Question...

Alright, unfortunately almost all Hondas come with Open Decks. I have read somewhere that in order to make high horsepower, with reliability, for Hondas you have to make it a closed deck. I remember reading in that article how to do it, but for the life of me I can't find that article anymore. So, how is it done, and does the block need to be resleeved for it or is it just simply capping off the block?

an open deck is a deck without a veranda or any sunblock or roof! A closed deck would consist of a keg of beer hot tub jenna jamison or the chick off of the show lex or both and a 3 foot bong some ice and some tunes!

What is the difference between closed deck, open deck, semi-closed deck?

Open deck design seems to start at 1996

Ah ha, now I know what they are talking about. You would have to had to pull your head off on the engine to know about it. In the block the pistons rest inside an aluminum cylinder, then there is a 1/4" gap then the rest of the block. In that gap is where the coolant resides and circulates. All of the coolant is held in by the head gasket. Having that 1/4" gap all around makes it an open block.
