Having a civic that I've tried both on (same kit btw), short rams just suck hot air off the engine, and then I got fed up and put the secondary piping section on the end of the short ram and the difference between hot and cold air is HUGE! The best thing is to get the engine to collect air from a low-heat source, which is most definately not on the passenger side of the camshaft on a D17 with all that heat running off it - which is where the inlet of the intake will sit on a shortram, as opposed to right infront of the passenger side front tire... that and the cold air intake makes my car sound like a ferarri at 6k lol.
here's something you might find usefull, read. don't just look at pictures. http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=236006
