have not heard of this problem before...
i posted this in repairs forum too, but i feel like it fits better here....
i have an 01 vic, (obvoiusly) and i was installing my brand spankin new aluminum shifter bushings from capyoda today... and as i am taking out the first bolt on the shifter housing to remove the old rubber bushing somehting pops and cracks and suddenly the bolt is stuck... it will move up and down and spin around, but it wont come out of the hole or screw back in.
i have searched like crazy in multiple forums and on lots of other sites and cannot figure out what happened
the only thing i could think of is that there is some kind of attachment under the car like in the older civics that needs to be taken off first.
has anyone ever heard of this happening before?

theres a threaded bung that is spot welded to the floorpan. What happened is the tack weld broke off and the bung is just spinning. You are screwed lol. If its not welded in between layers of sheet metal you might be able to pull the exhaust down, take the heat shield off, and get to it from underneath and put some vise grips on it but Im not sure.
If you can't get anything else to work, try this. First you're going to need access to a welder. Drill a small hole next to the bolt. While holding it up, tack weld a small bead in the hole that you drilled. Now, just unthread it as usuall. Be sure to put a little paint on the spot that you welded, so it doesn't rust. I've had this happen on other very inconvenient places. Works great.

i actually took it to a dealer here, it is costing me 100 dollars for them to just replace the broken bolts and bolt them right up to the chassis... not even replace the ones that are welded to the floor pan. The guy said that thet were rusted so much that they broke the nut off... he also told me that there is no reason i should be taking these off in the fist place
i think now i may just go under the car and replace all of them, b/c i am eventually going to get a revo ss and i will need to do it anyways... anyone know how difficult it would be?
