severely bad hyperblinker problem!!

ok here's the deal. i tried to make my hyperblinker right. searched radio shack and i found some 47k resistors which is the closest to the 45k ones. when i got home i took off the r1 resistor and replaced it with the 45k resistor. and when i turned on my blinker, the freaking light stayed on instead of blinking!!! anybody know what i did wrong? or what i can do to fix it?? i took the resister back out and now my blinker doesnt work! what do you suggest i do?

See the following Thread . It looks like you follows the instructions from the JDM website which aren't valid for our cars as the resistance value is more like 133000 instead of a 100K. Adding in a 45K resistor may have boosted up the current high enough to blow out the relay (I'm guessing here). Voltage=Resistance x Current (V=I*R) so if you reduced the resistance and the voltage is the same the current increased and may have done some damage. By the pictures in the thread above it appears the resistors in the 2k1 relay use surface mount technology which makes it very difficult to remove the resistor whithout breaking something along the way. I haven't tried creating a hyperblinker so I don't talk from experience.

If I were you here is what I'd do:

1. Check the fuses. Did you blow a fuse?
2. Are both left and right blinkers no longer working? I don't know if there is one relay for the car or 2. If one side blinks and the other doesn't you can try switching the relays to make sure that is the only problem.
3. If neither the left or right blinker is working go to your local auto parts store or Honda dealer and buy a new stock replacement relay to get you by for now.
4. If you are still hot on getting a hyperblinker buy a new relay on ebay. If will save you from doing damage to your car and save you frustration.

Good luck with everything.

removing and installing the relay takes about 10 mins. removing and replacing the resistor 1 min. replaced with a 25k resistor. only problem i had was the hazard lights not working. but i think there is a honda service bulletin for replacing the hazard light switch.

but try reversing the resistor the other direction. the direction you put the resistor in does affect the relay.

Yeah, if the blinkers work and your hazards don't work, then I guess the switch is to blame?

It does? That's a new one. A resistor is a resistor. It resists current. It's non-directional. Unless you guys used a directional one that blocks current from going back the other way? Post pics.

afaik a resistor is completely non-directional, like Grey said. caps and diodes are, but resistors aren't.

if you soldered it, you might have accidently spilled over and connected some tips that shouldn't be connected. that's happened to me before. but if i were you, i'd just buy a premanufactured hyperblinker from ebay or something. saves you the hassle and in this case could end up costing less. i'm going to pass on that for now because i'm saving for my strobes. but some day i'll get one.

yeah man, nothing on my car works, the blinkers and the hazards dont work! it pissed me off, so what i should have done instead of buying a whole new relay system is to buy a 100k resistor instead of a 45k?

Hey, I made my own hyperblinker and it was cake. First of all, you got the wrong resistor. You need 133k, not 47k. Also, you didn't need to unsolder the original resistor. All you have to do is solder the new one in parallel with the old one.
