changing the lights on tone

is there a way to change the lights on tone? or is it just one of those electrical things that suck *** and can not be modded...I was thinking of somehow maybe modding to get it to be like the BMW's that polyphonic tone that doesn't hurt your ears....

oh yeah 2k1 4-box ex

can the rest of us get a little clarification??? are you talking about when you have your door open, lights on, and you get that long beep sound? here's a fix: shut the door!

WHAT HE MEANS is, the "reminder tone" you hear coming from your dash if you try to get out of the car with the headlights still on

I was actually wondering about this myself the other day, not because I wanted to mod it, but because I wanted to unplug it!

Well actually, I just wanted to unplug the one that dings when you have the door open with the key in, but I am suspecting it's the same one, and just emits an intermittent or constant tone based on what it is trying to remind you about, key in ignition = beep beep beep beep, lights on = beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

I don't know, because I've not bothered to investigate, but just sticking my head under the dash it sounds as if it's coming from up behind the instrument cluster...

here's another potential source for wiring info (bear in mind it's for 95-97 Civics):

http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/CivicMa...df/23-a133.pdf

for the record, my honda odyssey has the soothing "bing bong" lights on reminder, vice the shrill "beeeeeep" of my civic. Maybe the beeper or circuit is interchangeable?

Hey guys, JC Whitney has door chimes that play Elvis' "Love Me Tender"

Just kidding, I mean they do, but...

Now if it played the Vapors' "Turning Japanese" I'd be all over it

Seriously, I'm not sure what could be done, but step one is to figure out where the noisemaker is actually located - anyone?

Once you find it a simple voltmeter test could determine what the pins are doing and from there hit Radio Shack or a junk yard?

I've always thought those 3 tone chimes that some '80s VWs had were pretty cool. Anyway just about anything is better than "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP"

(except maybe Love Me Tender... )

i wish i could turn those noises off. but most are built into the gauge cluster. You can disconnect the door trigger, but then dome lights and alarm sensor won't work.
