Throttle Body Spacer ????

Did a search and couldn't find anything on this topic.

I have seen a few advertisements for thottle body spacers for out cars. The big claim is helps with better atomization of feul. In theory and real life, the more atomized the fuel is, greater combustion = more power. I was wondering if anyone has tried one and has dyno proof they work on our EFI motors.

I know they work on a carburated motors b/c atomization of fuel occures after the carb dumps gas into the air being sucked into the motor thru the carb. a throttle body spacer (that goes between the carb and throttle body, hence the name throttle body spacer) put a space between the carb and intake manifold thus giving fuel more time to atomize withthe air, thus creating better atomized fuel and greater combustion.

I don't see how these could work on any EFI or FI motor since atomization of fuel happens thru the fuel injector spraying (atomizing) fuel into the induced air, after the air has passed the throttle body into the intake manifold, and into the combustion chamber. Atomization of fuel on happens in the combustion chamber by the fuel injector on any EFI or FI motor.

Am I making sence in my thinking?

Anything this device MIGHT do will be negated by our intake manifold. Even if it swirls air, it won't stay that way through the mani and head ports. Useless.

are you talking about a phenolic throttlebody spacer?

They basically increase plenum area. More plenum area can lead to higher hp at higher RPM due to more volume of air available in the intake manifold.

I have never tried one. I just know the basic principal of how they work. I wouldnt waste my time with it. But then again, im turbocharged so a 1-2 hp gain would be like going from 80 degree air to 85 degree air.
