does tint affect radio reception?
I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, but I was wondering if tint could affect the radio reception. I just tinted my windows this weekend. I rarely listen to the radio, but I listened to it 2 weeks ago and this week I tried to listen to it but the reception is really bad, so I think it's the tint I got done this weekend. I know our antenna is in the rear window but the tint is not between the antenna and the sky, so i don't know why it would affect the reception. Any of you got there window tinted and this happened?
im not sure but i kno my reception sucks in my car. i got the rear windows tinted but i also got an aftermarket hu so i think an aftermarket hu affects the reception more then the tint. i think tint should be fine cuz its not covering the reception lines. if u get a different hu, bye bye reception.

Metal film tint CAN affect reception on our cars. It is slightly conductive which is not good for the defrost/antenna grid. Also make sure you are getting power to the antenna box in the rear if you have a coupe.

I think he took some parts out on my rear deck to install the tint, maybe he forgot to plug the antenna booster once he reinstalled it. I don't know what that booster looks like or if he had to remove it to remove the plastic parts near the 3 rear windows. I know my radio worked until he put that tint in, and its not mettalic, it's just limo black (I don't know the %, all I know its the darkest tint he had). it sounds strange to me too, because the reception lines are still in contact with the sky. Anyways, anybody ever took apart the rear (were the ant. booster is)? do you just pull on it, or is there some screws to take out?
MECP states in their guide that metal tint can have an affect on reception but it usually isn't much (it wouldnt be as bad as ur describing) also aftermarket HU typically have better reception than stock HU hence why they r aftermarket. as long as the deck isnt some ****/ ebay brand then your reception should b better or worse case the same as ur stock HU.
