how does ecu change timing with temperature?
Anyone know and I've also heard cam timing and ignition timing are kinda linked on our cars? Its really hot here around 92F and my intake/tb are hot enough to cook on but car still feels responsive
ecu gets the info from sensors all around im pretty sure...
on majority of older hondas it is usually changed by the cam like you said, or on some older vehicle the dizzy, but since the newer hondas dont use "spark plug wires" (wipes out the dizzy way) i think its electronically controlled, only way i think the ecu can change the timing is if its not getting a consistant spark out of the plugs (old/foulded plugs) and it adjusts your air/fuel causing your timing to change as well...
i dont think temepature can change a timing unless its a safety measure for fuel economy/emissions.
just my .02 im not a mechanic
i usually play with older model hondas 94-97, and thats how the older cars work with timing, shouldnt be much difference.

yeah, supposively it does affect timing and what. Since are cars are direct port ignision *I belive thats what its call* its all controlled by the spark. Spark duration, wave, cam angles, and what not. Bassically as your car warms up the car can read the Intake temp, throttle possision, and advance the timing *i belive it, this may be on ivtec though* but if you buy a certain size resistor and place it inline with your iat? i think *bassically the piece that that messures your intake temp* and it will trick your computer into thinking the intake temps are lower and allow more air to enter the engine picking up a few extra Hp.
I may not be a 100% right, but ive been reading about some of this stuff. *so dont bash*
