Removing DX Door Panels
Removing DX Door Panels
I'm attempting to remove the door panels in my 2001 Civic DX, which has manual windows. The problem lies in removing the window-winder handles; I cannot get these things off for the life of me.
I understand that there is either a "U" or "C" type of clip that is holding it on. I've tried using a hair pin (not mine!) to try and pry it loose, to no avail. Should I be trying to hook this clip or attempting to pry it off? The only part I can actually see is a copper-colored ring around the base, which I assume I shouldn't touch.
Can anyone offer any detailed advice as to how to remove this clip? I know other forum members have used items such as paper clips and hair pins to pry it off. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

theres a tool you can buy that quickly/easily removes the clip... but i assume you want to take off your doors today...
from what i understand, a technique you can use to remove the clips is to get a rag (not too thick) and put it behind the window crank handle. then you're supposed to work at it by going side to side, sorta like a sawing motion. thats supposed to get the clip off.
let me know how it works out, i'm interested myself...

Actually you can use a flathead screwdriver and slide it into the small slit b/t the handle and the door. There's a small metal "U" clip that you just need to push off or pull up by doing a little prying. The first time was a biatch b/c I didn't know what I was doing, but now its easy if you know what to do. So the act itself isn't difficult, you just have to play with it.
The U clip wraps around the handle and part of the door. You need to get your screwdriver and place it b/t the U and pull or push off like I said earlier. Hope this helps.
