anyone here that lives in those very heated areas think the a/c that comes with the civic arent just cold enough? what are some things i can do to make it blow colder?
would replacing the filter with something else be a good idea?

I have had the same problem since i bought my 05 like 3 months ago...It feels like there's nothing there...Better off with the windows down...I think I'm gonna take mine to the dealer and have them take care of it, should be under warranty...

is your car black? that has alot to do with it. Basically you cant make it colder. I think the AC on our car is fine. Sometimes it gets too cold and I have to turn it down. And it will be 100 degrees outside.
Mine is cold too but I live in Vancouver BC, Canada so the hottest it gets is about 30 or so thats 80ish for you US types. My last civic the a/c went just before I traded it back in. I went on a trip and for about 2 hors neither heat nor a/c would work on the highway and then magically the heat started working and the a/c didnt. I traded it in for my 05 a week after I got back so I don't know what was up.

Mine only gets cold on long highway trips. Im looking into recharging the system - its 4 years old. I think you can just get a can of r-134 or whatever and fill the system?
A/C is lucky to drop the temp 20 degreez from outside to inside. My old camry had that older freon in it, before they made it illegal. That **** would freeze the bejesus out of you! I would say get it checked, but don't expect it to be super cold in your car.

Refriderant will last the life of the car, but you have to remember that the pipe work that holds all this gas in is constantly been flexed and twisted as you go over bumps, stop start etc, hence after a few years the gas escapes. Thats the reason you dont need to have your refridgerator regassed. So cars need regassing every few years.
I got 01 LX coupe and same crap... it's lukewarm for long time or have to turn it up more than half way. Heard that Honda AC sucks in general... friends with Toyota and VW do seem to be colder with even lowest setting.

I too find the AC not very cold at idle and low speeds city driving. Once you get the engine over 3000 rpm, like on the highway, it blows ice cold. I always assumed this was normal because of the small AC compressor. I assumed they used a small AC compressor because the engine is small, and to use less power to improve power/fuel economy when the AC is on. Another thought is that there is more airflow across the condensor at highway speeds which will make the AC system more efficient.
Does anyone get ice cold air at idle?

would changing the antifreeze/coolant help any?
idk, i think its not cold enough compared to the toyotas ive driven. on the civic, it probably needs about a minute for it til it can get to the coldest point (which isnt still cold enough) while in the camry, it takes like 5 sec before it can hit very cold temps.
is there any adjustments i can do to the radiator or a/c unit mechanically? im willing to sacrafice my heat temps for cold

hey yeah changing the antifreeze could help. you might have a clogged radiator. and yeah its covered by warranty. if your under warranty still then take it over to the dealership and enjoy the word FREE.

I bought my car (04 Canadian SE) at about this time last year, and people complained that the AC was too cold, even at idle and low revs. But for some reason this year it's only cool, and it takes a while for it to cool down enough. I think I'll have to take it in to the stealership. I have a theory that there might be a very slow refrigerant leak, which is why it's not working to capacity.
