Update:
My Alternator (original) was replaced in Feb. of this year. When my car died a few weeks ago they only installed a new battery and said my Alternator was fine.?
Well, after two more tows to the same machanic and replacing a fuse box and more diagnostics (more labor charges) I demanded they replace my rebuilt Alternator. They finally did at no cost. (Which they should have done) So, my first day back on the road went well. I didn't have any signs of a bad Alternator or power loss so hopefully it was the Alternator after all. Both times I had to be towed I broke down that day. Once at the end of the day, the other one very early in the day. My car lasted all day with the air on and I drove near 100 miles. So far so good!!
If I drive all week and experience no issues then you can pretty much bet I had a bad rebuilt Alternator which was installed in Feb. Why it took that long to rear its ugly head is beyond me.
I will also demand my money back on the fuse box and labor for that which was obviously NOT the problem. We shall see how the machanic treats me when I hit them with this!
I'll keep ya posted. I'll Email the owner tomorrow stating this.
Well, at least the Civic is now officially PAID OFF! We purchased a new van this weekend and I applied the money back in huge rebates to my car loan. Paid in full! Now I can unload it down the road if I get too upset with it. For now though I am just glad to have my car back.
It's nice when a car is paid off (2002) and you get many more years out of it. That's the ONLY way to get ahead. Hopefully, even though this thing is a pain in the rear I can drive it a few more years. That is, if I don't go bizerk and drive it into a lake one day from sheer disgust.
Wish me well...
