Checking your MPG?

Is there a guage that you can add to your car that will tell you how many miles you can go on a tank of gas, how many miles per gallon you are using, and how many miles per gallong you have used?

we have trip meters too. Just reset it to zero when you fill up. Then the next time you need gas, just take the mileage you had and divide that by the number of gallons you filled up.

He's talking about one that calculates while you drive...it gives you mpg est for the tank, mpg you've used, mpg you approx have left, etc.

That would require a a device with inputs from your speedometer, odometer, fuel tank float, RPM and/or fuel pump/line.

My old 97 GTI VR6 and 91 Passat 16v oil temp, trip, MPG (kilometer per litres here in Canada), thermometer, average speed all built in. I would always try to see what my best MPG would be. I really miss that feature.

It would be nice if we have the mpg meter like the hybrid. Instantaneous mpg is what i am after so i can drive at speeds that gives max mpg on different roads.

anybody try to swap it? hehe

i believe hybrid's meter probably only controled by information from ECU...no mumbo jumbo behind it..

if that's true, then it's possible to use that on our vic?

This?

I had a car with a fuel economy gauge. Basically, it told me that when I was pressing on the gas pedal I was getting poor fuel economy and when I let off the gas pedal I was getting good fuel economy.
