I would love to tell it to those jokers 200hp?.....................200 ****ing horsepower for a turbocharged car is pitiful......just pitiful............and btw how much would one drop on a turbo kit and the other parts to bring you to 200hp 3k......4k.......even 5k..................just stop replying to this thread you will not win..........the D17 motor is garbage for performance as is almost every other sohc honda motor on earth...........Do yourselves a favor keep it stock under the hood..make it look good and save up to move outta your moms house.

I think its funny when friends of mine put an intake manifold and a free-flowing cat on their 1.5L D15 and say "oh man, the torque on this thing is nuts now and it pulls so hard"...even though it still takes 20 seconds to go from 90-100, hehehe

hey 200 horsepower is not bad with just a turbo. you don't need a turbo to get to 200hp with the d17a2. quit hatin. its not a garbage motor. if it was it would be under a ford hood. its better than alot of motors out there. compared to other honda motors, its fine too. we didn't buy an integra or a s2k. or even a prelude. its a vic. so go with that saying that horsepower is built and not bought. we all start out slow. its just how far you want to go to get faster. with 800 bucks you could get an underdrive pulley, intake, and a header for the car. maybe an exhaust too. i don't know. strut bar and other stuff. stop hating on the d17. just remember before there was DOHC there was SOHC. SOHC is easier to work on, and they are not crap. go research, then tell me its crap.

I would say that around a 100% increase in power to the wheels is pretty good. There are plenty of respected turbo charged cars out there that dyno below or near 200hp. I guess people deal with the frustration of owning a slow car in different ways. Some do what they can to improve on what they started with and some people just whine and hate on those that do. I have way more respect for people who do performance mods than for those who do cosmetic mods.

I think you guys are missing my point...........Whatever you do....Whatever you say............However much money you drop into your CIVIC...........it will still be a Civic. It will never be a race car..........the torque will never impress anyone that has half a mind...........and your just throwing your money away. You say you can beat a stock Mustang GT at the track well let me break this down so everyone can hear it and understand it.............congratulations you beat a completly bone STOCK car with a heavily modded car..............your in a car with a voided warranty, a now unreliable motor and the more you do to it.....the less money it is worth! Now on the other hand Mustang man........who just bought his car off the showroom floor will beat 95% of you, and he will drive home that night and not have a care in his head about his engine internals being fried or if that nitrous **** cracked his head...because guess what he is still STOCK.
Im not telling you what you are doing is stupid.......building and tuning cars is a GREAT hobby and if you love it do it..........what im just trying to get through to you is that no matter how much money you WASTE ( and it is a waste) your still gonna be driving a Honda Civic.

Theres nothing wrong with making a car look good. Have you any Idea how many people on this forum have body kits or rims that are too big and too heavy for thier Civics..or maybe they have coilovers to lower that provide almost no handling gain. I just want you to double check who your hanging with before you go spouting off at the mouth because you may end up pissing a lot more people off than you know.

Cars, period, are a waste of money. If you're so concerned about the bottom line why aren't you driving an old air-cooled VW? Speaking of bottom lines, I bought my civic for 12.5k and spent 3.5k on my turbo. So, for under 20k I'm driving a car that will roast many other cars on the street. Also, I know how to work on cars so I don't give a **** about a warranty.

You're right about one thing, though. There's nothing wrong with making a car look good. I just stated that I have way more respect for someone who enhances the performance characteristics of their car. It's not that I don't respect someone who just changes their car's aesthetics.

Anyone else sense some undue hostility from this guy? Are you just mad that you don't have enough money to mod your car at all? Awwww. That's sad. Come on guys, let's all chip in a quarter so this guy can go buy some projectors. Would that make it all better? I bet it would. Let's have a smile. Now that's a good boy.

Yeah right the d17 is not garbage, its reliable, economical, and as american as ole zutroy here, not to mension apple pie. You can beat the **** out of it all day long, and it still shoots strait at the end of the day. Like whats his name said, spending 20k and having a car that can beat alot of more expensive cars is pretty sweat, and this mainly due to hondas engine and gearbox, and of course civics are lightweight. I just do not understand how you can argue that a car costing 15k that can be turned into a pretty fast car for 5k, with twice as much power as stock, thats 100% more power at 1/3 of the cost of the car, can have a garbage engine, considering the manufacterer never entended the car to be fast. The car was intened to be an econobox, but that doe not mean it has to stay that way, it doe have alot of potential. You are just being negative and not seeing the it for what it is. Of course its not a powerhouse, thats why making it go fast is so sweat, it is like a toy.
Also, make it look better? I think it looks beter than any car in its class.
