I want 6 valves and 2 spark plugs per cylinder. Why? Cause I wanna be different. LOL, no seriously though, I do wanna be different and that's why I wnt that DOHC head swap.
6 valves?? bah just get one BIG intake valve and one BIG exhaust valve, then you can say but its only an 8 valve 4cyl it has to be slow

Too much man. Just think of all the fabrication. The control system for that extra valve. New pistons. Extra valve. Different camshaft. Weird setup anyway, why have that extra valve? What could you do with it? Four valves per cylinder seems optimal to me.

I don't plan on getting a custom made cylinder head anyway, just wondering. But I really do plan on swapping to a DOHC head and then get a turbo. Think about how much better things will perform when you can adjust the intake and exhaust valve timing independant from each other.

Our civics have 4 valves per cilinder, 2 for intake, 2 for exhaust.
The difference between SI vtec and EX 2K1 vtec is that one is for performance and the other one is for gas saving!
While the SI opens the valves more when it engages the vtec, The Ex 2K1 is working with 3 valves between 0-3000 rpm's +-.
as soon as you pass between 2500 and 3000 rpm's, intead of using one valve for intake, it uses 2. So...... the car is a 12 valve per cilinder and it turns into a 16 valve per cilinder when it pases 3000, depending on some variables too!
And that's why people with EX's don't feel vtec engagement point as other DOHC Vtec's.
