A/C Expansion Valve

Hey, I'm pretty new to posting threads on here. I took my car to Honda today to get state inspection and all that stuff, and I also complained about my a/c blowing out warm air. They called me back and said that they refilled my freon and checked for leaks. Well they found out that the expansion valve is stuck open. They are ordering me a new expansion valve and it is covered under warranty. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem? ... I was just suprised this happened so soon because my car is not even a year old.

it isnt really a problem, it happens. As long as its under warranty, it is ok.

If your car is 2004, then it must have been charged with 134a not freon. Freon is also known as R12. They are not the same and the lubricants used in each system are generally not compatible with eachother.

most of the time if they had to refill it and check for a leak, then there was a leak. If it was just your expansion valve, then there shouldnt have been a need to refill it with refrigerant.

just cause it is a new car, doesnt mean it wont fail. I have seen cars with 6 miles at my work already have check engine lights on, SRS lights, a brand new SL55 with 128 miles came in with a burnt up transmission 2 weeks ago. **** happens.

Sorry for the mix up... it is r134a. The reason why I called it freon is because it says freon134 right on my receipt. They recharged the system because when they checked it, it only had .1 LB of r134a. So they charged the system and checked for leaks and found that the expansion valve is stuck open.

I realize **** happens, and the world isn't perfect. I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this problem.

You have a short somehwere, and I highly doubt it is the switch causing that. If the fuse for the condensor fan keeps blowing, you need to check that specific circuit. You probably have some wires shorting to other wires or shorting to ground.
