You don't have to remove the rear bumper, just put your hands up there and use a 10mm wrench to loosen the 2 nuts which hold in the bracket for the tail lights. You may have to bend the bracket a little to get it out. There's also a phillips head screw which has to be taken out, but it =can al be done from under the car w/ the bumper on

I do not think it is possible to not remove the bumper unless you can unbolt a screw 4 feet into the car. My arm was certainly not long enough. It took about 5 hours for me with a friend because I didnt really know what to do. I did a search and found it though. you basically just have to unbolt a lot of screws. there are 2 under black covers right on the edge of where the trunk opens. You can't get to those screws though unless you unbolt them from under the car, and that requires you to take off the bumper. Satisfaction of a job well done though. looks hot on a silver sedan.

I plan on doing this soon too but I dont see why the bumper would need to come off. You should be able to do everything from inside the trunk.

I did it jsut two days ago (i'll post the pics jsut as soon as I wash the car) I took the bumper off to do it. It took me a long time to find that last screw. I foundit by looking up the car's bumper. I tried to reach it but it was really hard and i couldn't imagine i would be able to ine everything back up when I was re attaching it so I decided to take the bumper off. Afterall the front bumper was quite simple to remove how hard could the back be.

First, i opened the trunk. then there are 2 black plastic caps on wither side of that black plastic for the trunk latch. jsut pop 'em off w/ a small screwdriver and you'll see the bolts.

next, i went to the tire wells... there are two screws on each side. done pointing up and one point to the back. you'll see them.

then you go under the bumper and there are two little clips jsut like the ones on the front bumper jsut pop them up like they were a turkey thermometer and teke them out.

now that should be all of them (if memory serves me right) and you can take off the bumper... I set a blanket down so the bumper wouldn't scratch up. starting at the wheel wells out can pull the bumper off but watch out... if do it carefully and you can do it w/o anyone elses help.

There you go your bumper if off and you can go from there. My TYC altezzas didn't have a screw hole for that bracket so I jsut took it off. Figured that's one less thing that could rattle.

put the bumber back on and you're set.

Now for my little side story. I bought the chromy tail lights and they were jsut too... um... well.. ricey So i returned them for the red ones and it looks tight now! I'll post pics soon but like I said I need to wash my car first.

Yep, Daniel420's got it right on the rear bumper removal. It's actually easier than the front bumper.

Then, you've also got the removal of the tailights themselves, 3 screws on the main section, 2 screws on the trunk lid section.

Only suggestion I would make, is to you Daniel, you may want to put the metal brackets back on, they don't/won't vibrate if you screw them down tight, and they are there to give the bumper an extra attachment point. Your bumper might be sagging in that area a little w/o them on.

I swap my tailights from my altezza's back to stock every few weeks, just because I can. I also had to replace my rear bumper, my old one got clipped in the corner by some fker in a parking lot. Probably could have repaired the old one, but I just bought a new one, had it painted, and installed on my car in less than 24 hours after the first one was damaged. Cost a couple hundred bucks(got a hook up on OEM parts), but I'm happy with the new one.

I also tried that reaching-under-the-bumper technique but it just scratches your arm from reaching those screws. The bumper isn't at all hard to remove. After that it's a walk in the park.

Thanks all you for your help...

It was too bad that i couldn't read this earlier because thwe forums went down the day i got my altezzas... I figured out how to do it with taking off the bumper and I do recommend that you do take it off because it just makes getting those screws off easier...
My new APC gen 3 altezzas look amazing... i'll post pics as soon as i get access to a digi cam...

and 1028... i think yo may be talking about the coupe lights because those only shoud take about 15 mins to change.
