valve stem install

How do i install valve stems?

It seems pretty obvious. I slide One end in, slide the other rubber grommet and 2 bolts into the back of the bolt and tighten down.

My question: Is there any oil or lubricant your supposed to use on the rubber grommets or valve stem hole?

I know your supposed to lube the edges of the wheel before the tire goes on.
I used to change tires at a small shop. I never did new valve stems.

You got metal stems or rubber ones? The metal ones you just push through and tighten the stem on from the outside of the wheel. I didn't lube the rubber seal when I did it, they haven't leaked yet.
Rubber ones you probably just shove in the hole.
If you're talking about the core, then you need a valve stem core tool. Its a funky little screwdriver type thing that you just put over the core and unscrew it, then screw the new one in.

yea its a metal one with 2 rubber grommets to seal each side of the wheels hole for the valve stem.

Mine seems to tighten from the inside of the wheel. The 2 bolts and washer pushes the 2nd rubber gromment in and holds the hole thing in place.

Im just gonna leave it to the wheel shop becuase i dont know how much to tighten the bolts.
