The small gains would not be worth it. The only way I would ever do it would be if I told someone I was going to race them then I would put them back in shortly after. But I don't race so I would never do it.

Not if its belt driven. Many new cars lately have been getting rid of the belt driven a/c and powersteering, and replacing it with electric ones. The new mercedes 500 (e or s class) has an electric a/c and it stays on in the summer 30 minutes after you leave the car and turn it off. So if you wanna run and get a bit to eat and its hot outside your benz will be chillin with the a/c on waiting for you.

Als it is usually the radiator fan staying on after 30 min. of shutoff to aid in cooling the engine down faster.

yeah, you won't be saying that if you can't turn fast enough to dodge a deer.
my brothers ITR was on the dyno at 210 whp then he removed power steering belt and got it to about 216 whp. you have half the horsepower so do the math and theoretically its not worth it. the most ur gettin it 4hp so dont bother

I noticed a difference so I just left it off. It used to be hard in parking lots and around corners in the city(moving slow), but once your moving it's actually easy to maneuver. Before I left it was actually easy all of the time. Either I got stronger or the fluid evaporated inside the lines. Which is not good. I was told as long as the lines have some fluid to keep everything lubed you will have no prob. So I suggest every now and then to hook it up so you can get some fresh fluid in there. I need to do this when I get back. Other than that I would say it definitely revs up faster without it. I am willing to sacrafice comfort for performance. Not everyone is willing, so it's up to you.

Well said. You get a much better feel for the road without P/S.

I'm trying to lose another 100-200lbs. So the ac is probally gonna come out when I get back. It's gonna be a little hot mid summer in Louisiana, but oh well winter will come eventually. How much do you think I could get for a brand new ac system if I sold it. Car only has 7000miles on it and the ac has probally only seen 24hrs of actual use.

Just to touch on the Benz Ac system. Its my understanding that its an option that enables you to have solar panels on the top of your car. The solar panels take in the light energy make it into electrical energy and power the fans on your car, I don't think they power the ac. Its designed to blow air around and help cool the car off at a programed time before you come back to the car. The BMWS have this as well, my old 91 525i had this feature but you had to wire it in yourself. When you left the car you programed a time you would come back and the fans would kick in a certain time before you came back. Benz just took it one step futhur with the solar panels.
