2.25 homemade exhaust (pics) Now with video
So far I have put about 12 hours into construction and 150 for materials. I figure everything will be set and done 2morow after 2 more hours of work. If you have any questions about the materials pm me and I can tell you exactly what I used. 2morow I will be posting up some clips of it in action. I think it really is turning out better then I expected for 150 bucks. The whole project is 180 with the ex manifold and Im hopping to get some nice flow from it.

Here is the ex vs dx manifolds. I really like the ex manifold because of the tubular 1 inch runners and its cheaper so I was hesitant to just weld on a new flange.

New flange welded onto the ex manifold.

EWWWW stock 1.5" diameter dx exhaust.

High flow cat that I bought off my freind for 25 bucks that was brand new. Im unsure what kind it is cause he didnt have the box or anything.

Down pipe with the cat attached.

Spot where we used 2 45' angle pieces, we tried to make all bends as mellow as possible for the best possible flow.

New exhaust laying next to the old.

Axel back piece. This is where we really saved a bunch of bends, the muffler sits high enough that it clears the axel and still comes out pretty nice on the bumper.

o2 bungs to prevent any kind of check engine light.

My buddy dan that did all the welding for me.
More pics to come soon of it on the car and all bolted up 2morow afternoon

haha i love salt, makes your car look so bad.
yea i think the flow issue should be alright with all the welds because of how much straighter it is and the diameter being .75 inches larger. The sound im hopping is ok with out a resinator......

Yea I was kinda scared it wouldnt come out right and it would be a waste of like 200 but I think its nice so far. The sound will make or break it really. I just hope I dont have to throw in a res because that would be a bitch.

WOW LOOKS REAL NICE. sorry about the caps. well i was wondering, i am thinking about doing this also, what are the gains off of doing a 2.25" exhaust piping and headers and high flow cat and wat not. is there a noticeable n/a motor sound? also i have an ex wat is the stock size piping on that and would it be a ok way to get a little more umph in the top end cuz of this?

good job, but have fun installing that. If it is one big piece, it will be a bitch to get all in there. I had a hell of a time removing my old exhaust that was all welded together. Had to cut it in half to get it off.

Its just like the stock, It unbolts at the header then again at the axel back. Its one big b pipe/down pipe piece then a axel back. Im about to go finish it up right now so pics will be up soon along with either sound or video clip.

Uh.. good job but I think your gonna lose some well needed bottom end torque. May not be big loss, but I'm thinking your gonna be slower now off the line now. I thought you only really needed to go this pipe diameter if your boosted.
