Loving the RedZone! Internals to follow
Internal work - Next Stage a MUST!!!
Last night I went as hard as i've ever been around this 15k windy road throught the mountains; with some nice straights. I have a 04 Vic non-vtec 1.7, usually I down shift blip so that my revs fall to around 7500 in the red, the storey goes like this:
Drop to around 7000 bounce-bounce-bouce around the bend and click -> 3rd.
3rd 7000 bounce off throttle/brake blip down -> 2nd bounce-bounce -> 3rd.
Flat third 6800 click -> 4th. Bend approaching blip/brake -> 3rd 8700 Blip -> 2nd. Now as I hit -> 2nd revs went of the TACHO 8700+ came down to 7000 click up -> 3rd. I was loving the road too much car didn't want to stop I didn't want to stop!!!
Engine seemed to be coping alright, for the remainder of the 15k road I went just as Hard bouncing and seeing red values of 8000-8500 all the way round.
At the end of the road I just let my car Idle, as I was taking a ****, the engine started making this knocking sound around the 700-800 Idle zone. However as I took the reves to 900 with a slight touch of the throttle the knocking sound went away? What was this sound I wonder?
My other question is I havn't got a SAFC II installed and tuned yet, is it better for the egine if the car is tuned?
I have a feeling I need to strengthen the internals to cope with my driving style. What internal work should I do? cam, valves, stroker kit maybe?
I only have done two mods to her:
-custom made 2.5" madrel bent stainless steel exhaust with highflow cat.
-custom made Intake pipe with pod filter.

Reving to 8500rpm is not a "STYLE." It's dumb, especially in a Civic. You arent making any power over 6500-7000rpm. YOU ARE DRIVING AN ECONOMY CAR.

whats with these people signing up to the internet and there first or second post just really ends up being there last...whats this world coming to, first we had fnf then 2f2f now initial d fwd action#@!#@#! god dont hollywood and asian market see they currupt our fat mcdonald eating asses with it?
haha Cars fine turned out that the Exhaust was so hot that the rubber supports had stretched so much that it was vibrating against the rear stabilizer bar. It's all good now after changing the clips, everythings fine.
It's looks like i'm going to go Turbo - waste of money doing all these 3-5Hp mods. Costs a heeps! That way I can keep my revs down below 6500. Making plenty of power. As it's an Economy Car

great, so u are gonna raise your compression with a turbo motor
hahaha it's retard! your retard! I've got bloody good mechanics custom making everything, pistons will be chosen accordingly so that the compression is lowered as well as porting the head to further lower the compression etc..
These guys have build the fastest Turbo + NOS Type R's in Aus. As well a Civic's etc, S2000's (my next car). After I turbo this Civic and rip it to the end!

Okay... I'm going to take the high road and not flame the Newbie...
Welcome to the site Tomola.
I think all the good points were covered, valve float, bent pistons. yada yada yada
but what the heck is this ???
I have no clue what you said except you either ate a Taco at 8700 rpms or a nACHO ATtacked you at 8700 rpms... either way being at 8700 rpms is really bad. And putting money into new internals is a waste of money.
And on a more serious note, you either need to take yourself to the Auto-X track for that kind of crap or get a motorcycle. You're going to kill somebody in that car. If your on the track or on a bike, you're probably just going to kill yourself.
My suggestion would be to get a bike anyway. It sounds like you just like the thrill of it, and no matter how much money you speed on that civic or S2000 it won't compare to being on a bike.
Good Luck
