is the air silencer or air resonator the thing that is connected to the factory airbox that has the pipe sticking out of it near the head lamp... and i read on a Mazda forum that if you remove that you gain some HP and makes ur car sound louder.... is that tru and is there anything bad by removing that?

yes it is, if u remove it though you might as well get an intake which are only good for mild gains. yes it sounds a lot louder depending on what you put there or if you just leave the air box o.

ohh so that is it but is removing it a good idea.. i kno when putting in an intake u have to take it out but if some one removes that does it actually giv ur car a 1-2 hp gain?

well im not goin to say its a good or bad idea. there are guys that are smarter then me on this site that hopefully reply, but if you do take it off, take it all out and just stick a CAI or SRI in.

just get a cai, you can order one from e-bay, if you live in an area that gets a lot of snow and rain, you may want to get a short ram, not cai. e-bay about 30-50 shipped.
