Red face HEY GUYS! Newbie Questions??? Sorry

Well guys I am back to a Honda. I came from 98 Turbo Jetta VR6, pushin about 270whp, spent A LOT of money on it, don't ask. The only reason I got rid of it because the miles were getting a little high and the value of the car was dropping like a fly. This thing was FASTTER than a ****!!! Now I am down to an 04 Civic EX, huge difference in power obviously, but gas milege and style in my opion, blow Jetta's out of the water.

Sorry for my rambling, but onto my questions, now after reading some of the posts, doing engine mods is a waste of money because it looks like we can get maybe 10-15 hp with intake, header, exhaust......maybe a cam? So I think I will go for looks and by maybe a cheaper cat back for a nice deep throaty sound. So any visual mods that are a must, ie spoiler, dropping, any good cheap places to buy them? Any brands to stay away from? I also like to do all my own car work, saves me money , so I was wondering where I could get a shop manual like Haynes. Also will four 2 ton jack stands hold our cars up, sorry don't know our offical weight? And for my last question, I am used to VWVortex, a VW forum site like this one, and they had a search bar so we didn't have to ask the same questions over and over we just used that. Is there something like that here? Well guys I hope I haven't put you to sleep. Any help would be most appreciative. Thanks, Erik.

biggest tip...stay away from civictuner..hahaha, that's all i can suggest you...he knows probably less than you do about cars...and he's only a kid...at least you've had experience with cars before...

yes, there is a search on this site...

sorry, there's no cam for our cars...maybe one day, there will be one...

um...if you want power, only options are swap, or turbo...

we share the same chassis with the rsx and the civic si (ep3), engine drops in perfectly, might wanna do a search on that one...um...all suspension components fit i believe...not 100% sure about the 04, i think i've read before that the front sway bar is different? maybe someone else can confirm that besides civictuner...

body kit wise...i haven't seen much for the 04's yet, i've seen bare minimal kits so far...if you wanna talk to someone who would know about the 04, u might wanna message mr.modify, i believe he has a 04 civic and it's suppose to be pretty sweet looking...

anyways, welcome to the club, and hopefully one day you'll make ur civic faster than ur vw tank

for catback, 2.25" is the largest u should go for 4 cylinder n/a

Why the hell are so many posts by mr. JayyyyDeeeEmmmmmm???
cant a mod just delete it all and take away those oh so precious points?

ok, there is a service manual, but no chiltons or haynes manual last I checked (which was not too long ago).

K&N drop in filter will not do anything for the car. If you dont want to turbocharge the car or swap in another engine. The only intakes that do anything (but very little) are the K&N FIPK 2 and AEM Version 2 intake. There are a good # of cat backs, but they also dont do much. If you dont want to use the search button, you can use the "parts/reviews" button and look there.

And welcome to 7thgencivic.

That sounds like one of those things people say that is never really going to happen, but they think it sounds bad as hell and intimidating to those who read it. Id like to see pics of this "engine" as soon as you get it in "2 weeks"

me too! haha, doesn't matter, k20 or not, i'll still spank you...first of all, you have no driving experience...i've actually done race school in japan before....secondly, u have no suspension setup except for a few bars which won't do **** for stock suspension....we're talking about track racing here, not 1/4....power doesn't mean anything, u'll spank me on the straight, but i'll cut you off on the inside corners....6000 for a k20 type-r? haha, u way over paid....and a spoon ecu? hahaha...u think u have a crate motor or something from spoon? ur better off purchasing hondata k-pro for that engine...and even so, ur looking at least another 2 grand to get it installed....u think it's just a straight drop in with plug and play? haha, not that easy...

Recommande place to buy from.
Robearrcing.
Truehonda.
Dezod.

2 ton jack stands are good enough to use on civics.
Helm guide is useful for anything, cost $65-70.

Intake, pipe + filter: Buy used one and save money, won't really do anything but sound anyways.
Header= Shortly header is useless.
Exhaust= 2.25" diameter max for n/a applications. Resonated.

To the original poster of this thread, yeah i've heard awesome things about Dezod and Truehonda. I've personally ordered for robearracing, so each would be a a good choice.

that's nice that installation will be free....too bad u have to rely on other people to do ur work...so for about the next 5 minutes of my life, i'm gonna waste my time and bash you...first off, tein s-techs, are you kidding me? those are the softest non-aggressive suspension for the civic on the market...and u wanna keep up with me on the track? u need at least a 8-10k suspension setup before u can keep up with me....tokico blue's? what happened to your spoon suspension setup u were so proud of? can't afford spoon now? wow, 22mm rear sway bar? i got the same one...., hum...wheel balance...HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAA

WHEEL BALANCE????? HHAHAHAHAHA OMG, u are seriously thet dumbest kid i've ever met....HOW THE HELL IS WHEEL BALANCING GOING TO GIVE YOU EQUAL DISTRIBUTION OF WEIGHT??? you think you drive an rx7 or something? just to keep u updated, ALL WHEELS ARE BALANCED NO MATTER WHAT U DRIVE! if your wheels aren't balanced, ur car will start shaking after 100km/h or so...same with alignment...and u call urself a car enthusiast....well i definitely hope u get lsd with ur 6000 type-r engine...seeing how it comes standard with the type-r's....jdm harness type-s harness? i'm not even gonna get into that...what kind of mod is that? cables, linkages, mounts...man....i have no comment on those...rad and rad support...wow, that must really increase ur hp eh? haha, even if u get a cf hood, i don't think it'd clear the pump....unless u get some cheap *** 1 layer cf hood...hahhaha...and a full spoon exhaust to top things off...hahaha, man...u can't even get ur mods straight...u do all this crap,

YET YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE AN INTAKE OR BRAKE SETUP

how the hell do you expect to stop all that power???

you honestly don't deserve this engine, you give all car enthusiasts bad names, and you'll definitely pull some fnf shiet and blow ur engine...ur the retard of retarded tuners, u have no clue what the hell ur talking about, you think you know a lot but you have no clue...seems to me that you copied most of this stuff out of a site or someone else's mods....just the header itself ur looking around roughly 1000 cdn, the exhaust is another 1000cdn....this entire project will roughly cost you 10,000....u probably don't have engine mounts, subframe, or even axles....you have no rims so eventhough u have so much power, ur still running 20+ lbs rims...spoon ecu..haha, u think it's just plug and play? your gonna have to pay someone to tune it, and hopefully it's not those ****'s u work with cause i'm pretty sure they'll **** it up before they can get the car started...

even with all these "mods" as you claim, i'll still spank you....eventhough my engine is fairly stock, with only basic bolt on's, no internal work done whatsoever...at least i know how to drive and most of my money went towards my suspension setup to spank ricers like you who give enthusiasts all around the world a bad name....here's my setup for

suspension/wheels:
D2 36-way adjustable coilovers with spoon springs
neuspeed upper strut bar
neuspeed lower x-brace
j's racing rear upper strut bar
j's racing lower tie bar
Mr. Alex trunk bar x2
dc5-r 22mm sway bar with grey's endlinks
spc camber kit
energy suspension control arm bushings
Advan RG 16x7 w/ Toyo T1-S rubber

brakes:
brembo brake lines
brembo drilled/slotted rotors (4 disc)
hawk hps brake pads

exterior:
factory
phillips 4300k hid

engine:
AEM V2 intake
AEM cam gear
Unorthodox Pulley set
Energy suspension motormounts
DC Sport 4-1 header
Bored out throttle body
Apexi grounding kit
arc radiator cap (if you consider this a mod)
arc oil cap (same as above)
spoon magnetic drain plugs
spoon reservoir covers (if you consider this a mod)

electrical:
v-afc2 (dyno tuned)
rsm
**** load of car audio crap, which i take out for races

interior:
sparco torino 2
sparco 4 point seat-belt
arc **** ****
dc5-r shift boot
defi temp gauges
levoc pedals (this is definitely a mod)
momo steering wheel
air fresheners x2 (squash smell)
one hell of a good driver

still wanna race?
