One question about coolant flushing?
I was just wondering, instead of removing the engine drain bolt to remove the coolant from the engine block, can I just run the car and remove the upper hose from the radiator and let water run into the radiator untill all the coolant flushes out the hose and it runs clear? I was thinking of doing this and when the liquid came out clear, I would know the coolant was flushed and I would stop running the water untill no more came out the hose.
Just wondering because a teacher at school said this is an easy way instead of just draining the coolant from the radiator then from the block.
or would the other way be better?

When some friends swapped my head, they just opened the normal radiator plug and let it drain out. Then they kept squeezing the top hose until the rest came out. When we did get the head off, it turns out there was hardly any coolant there afterward.

Thats how I did it... just keep adding water and don't let the system go dry. Drain the radiator again once it runs clear, that way you get enough antifreeze back in so that you have some cold weather protection.
