Broken Arm, How Am I Suppost To Shift

The Roar Of the 7th Gen???/ Ok Guys and Gals. I got a guestion for ya, that most of you probly have not noticed.
When our cars were stock..we all at one point heard another civic (2000 si, 97 ex) roar by with nothin but an intake making the car sound Fu@kin ballsy when it hit vtec kind of like a wwWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (really deap and really strong) so naturally we wanted that as well...so i went out bought my intake (injen short ram) and hit the vtec.. but to no avail no deap scary roar just a wwHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ( louder but not as noticable.) so i was wondering.....is it due to our ULEV or what...AND HOW CAN I FIX IT!!!!!! lol

Rep Power: 0 imo its just the exhaust thats ulev. i had my car on a lift and it only had 1" pipeing and the resonator was about a qurter length of the car. ulev is also due to the fact that we only push 127hp

I would guess that its the differenc between SOHC and DOHC
DOHC is when you really see vtec difference, could be a removed
resonator, but then tat gets to loud sometimes.
I heard a car with resonator on, 2in pipe and a nice not huge
straight muffler....got that deep sound you are talking about

LOL i new i was gona get sh*& for that.. its cool though....come to think of it was the 97 Ex a DOHC.. if so thats probley the reason. the sound of that "wwWWWHHHAAAA" is really distinctive..i mean when or if you hear it you'll know exactley what im talking about. but i think it might be the DOHC compared to the SOHC........wich brings me to another question....can you swap a DOHC head for a SOHC head on a D17 or is it a compleatly diffrent block.......please forgive me for being ignorante ( well not really)

ok heres how u do it:
1. download a soundclip of an RSX Type S or an S2000 on ITBs opening up and switching over to the higher cam profile.
2. burn it on a CD.
3. accelrate and when ur tach reads 4500 RPMs, press play and hang on to ur socks!!!
if u want, u can download a sound clip of a blow off valve too! that way u can have turbo VTEC!!!!!
...im just kidding lol

Hahahah... this brings back memories now. Yes, I believe it is due to the DOHC. Seeing the front end rise a bit higher when you hit VTEC... Didn't really have that knock you back into your seat type of power, but sure felt good.
Even the "economy" version of the K20 engine (K20A3) had that sound and some oomph...
I miss my old car now...

You guys are crazy.. Hmmmmmmm... I have an intake an it makes more of a sucking sound than a "wwwWWHHAAA" sound lol kind of like, "Hhhhhhhhoooooooooooooooo" but you suck in instead of exhaling out like when you talk.... Go ahead and try it with me on the count of three.... 1... 2... 3..

With head ports and bigger header, my exhaust sounds louder as does the engine. It's not a loud ricer noise, but you can tell a difference. You won't get it to sound like DOHC because it isn't.
