Rep Power: 0 Factory Security System Question.
My '02 Civic SI factory security system seems to sound off unecessarily when I open the hatch. I can unlock all the doors (2 pushes of the unlock button) and then later, if I open the hatch, the alarm goes off, blowing the horn until I insert the ignition key and turn the car on. Is that what it is supposed to do?
I assume that, like all my other cars, once you unlock everything and then open at least one door the security system is then unarmed.
The hatch is unlocked at the time as the handle functions normally, it just sets off the alarm.
Is there any way to change this other than going to the dealer?
Advice, comments or ?????
Thanks in advance.

Rep Power: 0 maybe its in auto mode? I know that when I first got my OEM security system, it was in automatic, and it freaked the hell out of me. Automatic is that after all the doors are closed, and stay closed for like 20 seconds, it automatically arms itself (doesnt lock the doors, just arms). Then, when you open a door or trunk, it gives you 20 or 30 seconds delay before it goes off. Maybe?

Rep Power: 0 If you unlock the doors, you have 20 or 30 seconds to open the door. After the timer runs out and you have not opened a door, it will rearm. When it rearms itself, and if the hatch is open, it will sound the horn 3 times. Kind of telling you that something is open. Unlock the door(s), close it, then go to the hatch and it should not sound. Have you noticed that if you unlock the doors and not open any doors, it will lock them again automatically?

Rep Power: 0 Thanks to JWALKER87, the problem is solved. He was right on, suggesting that the security system was in AUTO mode which sets the security system automatically after the time delay, regardless of whether or not the doors are locked. Strange, but true!
Thanks, Justin!
