Well I checked the service manual and it only shows replacement of each component. When you take it out, there are certain things you need to do or bad things will happen. Can't just pull out all the parts. Unless you know about all the components and how they work (there are alot of parts), I would have someone do it for you.

well first off dont go pulling any parts off... u need to get ur lines vacummed out so there is no pressure in them.. pulling it off when its presurrized will be bad and i dont want to see bad things happen..

but then again if you want to depressurize it urself open up one of the ac recharge parts and slowly push something in there to let out all the gases.. be careful cause some of the oil might shoot out too... be warned that letting ac coolant loosde in the air is illegal.. so make sure nobody sees u.. u didnt hear that from me

have you ever tried evacuating the whole system like this yourself before recommending it to others..? or were you thinkin.. "well, it works with the valve on my tires.. so hey it must work with highly compressed gas that will probably badly injure me if it comes in contact with my body!"

Ha good one. That refrigerant is extremely toxic! And if you don't do it right, you could ruin the ac parts so they can never be used again.

yes i have done it before with my friends a/c... he didnt want to pay the shop to take it out.. used a screw driver and a rag to cover the hole to keep the oil from squirting out and yes.. i have gotten the gases and oil on my skin and no harm done .. actually feels like cooking oil.. really thin... i thought it would have been apparent when i said in a previous post ""slowly push something in there to let out all the gases.. be careful cause some of the oil might shoot out too..."" .. oh well.. sorrie so grumpy.. its 8:13 in the morning and just got back from dropping the girls home and still havent sleep.. long nite... first went to a house party... then to illegals... then eat at dennys.. then to the rave.. then pick up my friend from the bar who was drunk and drop him home... then drop the girls and come home

5 hours later... lol.. im back up and about... dang was i that grouchy.. lol.. yea.. a locl shop here will charge $40 to vacuum and recover the a/c materials and was gonna charge another $100 to remove the piping and compressor and pump and stuff... if u know your way around i would say just get it depressurized then bring it home and remove it urself... should be real simple after that.. u can remove just the pieces u dont need...

BTW.. skip the BS and just cut the belt for the a/c ... my friend wanted to save his belt just in case but it was hella hard for him to pull of... so when he wasnt looking and BAM.. cut the belt for him... lol... was much easier after that

hey xproductions, juts wanted to know since I have removed my a/c but now I need a shorter belt (6-rib about 26") did you ever find one that worked (with the compressor off) that was enough to run the alternator/crank alone? thanks ---
