Anyone got a detailed diy for this?
Anyone got a detailed diy for this?
I know this question has been asked so many times but i still havent got a good detail answers. How do u take apart the altezzas to paint the trim inside. If anyone knows exactly or have done it please tell me. I dont wanna try it myself afraid to crack it. These are the altezzas i wanna take apart
I just did my OEM headlights.
1. take them of the car.
2. put in oven at low heat (95 degC) for about 5 min. Keep an eye on it wile it's in there.
3. pry 2 halves apart/cut glue with blade.
4. use green tape to mask off any part you don't wanna paint. Don't press tape too hard or some chrome may come off.
5. prime if needed, paint in very light coats with 10 min dry time in between.
let dry, peel tape off carefully.
put 2 halves together, put back in oven to heat up OEM glue. Press together.
6. Apply silicone caulking 100% around seems.
7. re-install
I used the clearing headlights DIY in the DIY section. Remenber to keep an eye while in the oven, I heard altezza's tend to melt easier.

you need to check the tails first to see how they're sealed. The stock tails are actually melted together and can't be opened without cutting into it. If it's just silicone, pop em in the oven.
i actually wanted to paint mine and then make them LED but they look almost like 1 piece. Looks like it would crack into 1000000 pieces if you try to use any force to split them.

Someone (APC?) sells paintable tails that you spray first and then seal yourself I think. Rider got em and painted custom green to match his car. Anyone remember?
