Crank Pulleys

I always hear people say that the crank pulleys with distroy your car. But I don't think I have ever heard anybody have an actual experience with the engine breaking down. no one that I have ever heard has said something like oh I had a friend that had one and......blah blah or I put one on my car and.....blah blah blah. My friend put one on his 99' Neon R/T and yeah it had problems at first but not so much anymore it has been probley a year since he put it in. Those things can give some good power but I just wanted to see if anybody has had any experiences with cars going to crap from the crank pulley. Thanks
