o2 sensor problem (HEADER)

I have a custom header on my car right now and i am running on straight pipe.
I have a 2001 civic lx so the catalyic converter is where the header is, and i've replace 4-1 header in it and i couldn't plug the stock sensor back on because the header i had didn't come wif a hole on the top.
and the car idle's up and down when i am at the light
my question is if i put the plug and weld the o2 sensor in it will the problem be gone?thanks

I am not sure if I am 100% correct, but so far from my experience, I strongly think that it's would have a lot of impact and you should put it back in
