Okay, my CEL came on and I don't know why. It came on midway through a booty call installation, but I don't know if that's the reason. My dad is insisting on taking the car himself to the dealer to find out [he doesn't wanna do the autozone thing... blah]. Anyways, here's my dilemma: I don't want him to find out about my little button in the cig lighter panel. My options are:
1) Turn off CEL, and tell him, "oh, it went off." Then find out on my own what went wrong.
2) Attempt to hide the button, but then I'd also have to hide the siren thingy [it's a little big] which means disconnect it all. But then I have wires leading to nowhere... Honda techs will be like, "what is this?"
I have 17,800 miles on my car.
What should I do?

Well the booty call doesn't really tie into anything right? It's just hooked to power. That wouldn't trigger a cel unless you totally wired it wrong or blew fuses. Even then it's doubtful. Just take it to get a free diagnostic at autozone or wherever. They plug in the same expensive code reader as Honda has. It will tell you what's causing the code, and then you can figure out what to do.

Yeah, I had a very very experienced friend wire it up with me. Straight from battery... it's its own circuit, so yeah. The cel came on randomly, and my engine was acting a little strange at first. I might have gotten used to it, or it might have settled... I'm not sure which.
I guess I'll turn it off... how do i do that again??

No offense, but tell your dad he is an idiot for wanting to spend $80 for the dealer to tell him whats wrong with the engine, when autozone can do it for free. And most likely it is something that can be fixed easily.
