help me tune vafcII
Can anyone give me some pointers on how to try and get this thing adjusted? My mods are ported head, bored TB, and HP top portion header.
I've called shops and just can't find anyplace open on weekends with a dyno. Not to mention, they're all 3hrs away. So I was hoping some of you could offer suggestions.
I have seen a few people's results, and they vary alot. A couple I've seen have alot of fuel taken away because our cars run rich apparently, but others have added alot of fuel. So I'm really confused and frustrated. I know dyno tune is best, but that's not happening any time soon.

gearbox most people add because they assume they need more fuel with their mods. However stock 7thgens seem to run rich up top. With those mods it may be close. If you are running N/A(no dry kits) try taking out 3-4 percent starting at 4500 and work up to about 5700, flatten out till 6400 or so, then gradually bring back to 0 again depending where your rpm adjustments are. It shouldnt matter too much if you have vtec or not because no matter what they are all rich. Just for piece of mind I dynoed mine and took out 12% at peak and its still a tad rich so i doubt you will lean out too much.Try it, I bet it will work. Made a huge difference in my car without pnp. Go figure a ULEV car with a computer prog that runs mad rich lol. I wouldnt go crazy without a dyno though.

That's the best reply I've gotten all year seriously. Thanks. I'll compare what you said to the other maps people gave me and try it.
i just got mine installed too..
would everyone that has one please post:
the type of mod they have
there vafc settings
car year
and the trim (dx,lx,ex)
then that way this would make a good sticky where everyone could go for reference for a starting point to get started

2002 honda civic ex
port/polish head
bored TB
Top portion header
Wide High vtec (only setting tuned for me)
Throttle position 25% narrow, 80% wide
3000rpm -2
3400rpm -2
3600rpm -3
4000rpm -3
4400rpm -2
4600rpm -2
4800rpm -2
5400rpm -2
5800rpm -2
6200rpm -1
Yes, those are all negative values to subtract fuel. I would recommend going even lower to -7 if you only have I/H/E mods. I'm erring on the side of caution with my mods and not leaning it out that much. From what I've seen, our cars are really rich in the upper rpms and normal in the lower rpms.

Truthfully you shouldnt even mess with it. Just have a tunner do it so you dont risk any damage to your car. I have had a lot of kid blow u there cars playin with there vfcs. Its not really worth buyin a new motor over.
Yeah you probably hafta go crazy with the numbers to feel it, like i said im at -12% at peak and its still a lil rich up top. With a wideband you could see for sure. It does make a noticable difference when tuned right. I was actually really impressed with the gain. without a/f ratio you have no idea what to do though.
