switch power?
I am instaling some cornering lights on the civic and I need to connect one wire from the relay that comes with the kit to a source of "switch power". As it was explained to me, this ius a power source that will be on only when the key is on so the lights will only work if the key is on. I guess this is so you dont forget them and kill your batery. I need to know what I should tap into for this. Anyone have an idea?
you can tap the cig lighter for a ignition wire.
but only use this line if its only going to be used for switch. IE. you have a separate 12v wire. and you use the cig lighter wire just for switch.
for example i have a dc powered computer with a shutdown controller. it has three wires
1-12v
2-12v(switched)
3- ground
the power supply will stay idle if key is not in the ignition.
then when i put the key in I or II position the cig lighter will send 12v power to the PSU but the psu will only use this as a sensor to know when to switch on the computer. the other 12v wire will power the cpu.
then when i take out the key the cig lighter stops sending the 12v power but the psu will stay on for another 30 seconds to allow the cpu to shutdown.
yea so the ciglighter is a good place to tap switch power.

right on, I think thats exactly what I am looking for. Should I tap it at the switch or somewhere else in the harness? I dont have access to a factory wiring diagram so the more specific you are the better. Thanks
